During the Institute

Class Hours
You will be with your instructors approximately five hours per day, five days a week. Instructors are experts in the area of academic preparatory skill building; class activities will be broken up with hands-on workshops, group activities, and out-of-the-classroom work.

Guest Lectures
SIEBL students will attend guest lectures by university faculty on topics of interest to the law and business community. Prior to each lecture you will be assigned a reading that compliments the lecture topic. The lectures are intended to help broaden the your knowledge on academic topics as well as develop your comprehension, critical thinking and note-taking skills. Students will have opportunities to develop questions for the lecturers and participate in Q&A sessions.

Site Visits
To give you a real-life view of the professional worlds connected to the fields of law and business, the program includes a number of visits to local organizations and businesses. These visits may include government offices, a court of law, a law firm, or other local businesses.

Presentations
At the end of the program, each SIEBL student will do high quality research and make a final group presentation.

Social Activities
SIEBL students will have opportunities outside of the classroom to mix with UW students during summer quarter FIUTS activities.
