Lake Washington and the Arboretum
Well, I’ve been in Seattle for a week now. My host family is really kind. There are 3
children in the family. The kids are on summer vacation,
so they have time to take me places. Matt is 17
years old, so he can drive. Don’t worry! He’s a very good driver. We have stayed
in Seattle because there are so many wonderful things
to do here. We have gone swimming twice in Lake Washington. It’s a little
bit cold! There is a very nice park close to the University of Washington.
I think it’s called the Arboretum. One day we rented a canoe and we paddled
around the Arboretum. It was so peaceful that I couldn’t believe we were still
in the city. We saw many people fishing, and a few young boys were diving into
the lake. But the most unbelievable thing was that we saw beavers, frogs, and
big blue herons while we were canoeing, right here in
the city! You would really be amazed to see how much nature and wildlife
there is in Seattle. I haven’t ever seen wild animals in our city. Next time
I want to take my video camera so that I can take movies to send you. You won’t
believe it!
Give my little brother a hug for me.
Love,
Brigitte
